If you are interested in becoming a member:

Complete an application and be sponsored by two Regular, Senior or Life Club members.  Include, a non-refundable application fee equal to the current annual dues, $1,100.  Write check out to SIYC.  The application fee will be credited to the initiation fee, $2,200 upon acceptance as a Regular Member.  

Candidates for membership must have attained the age of 21 years by the date of the First Reading/Introduction.

you may visit SIYC and request an application. The Club is open: Monday-Thursday 4:30-7:30 pm; Friday 4:30-10:00 pm; Saturday 1:00-10:00pm; Sunday 1:00-7:00 pm (club is not open on Sundays January - March).  

Completed Application:  You may drop off the application and check at Club.  Place it in the Treasurer Mailbox.  OR, you can mail it:  Treasurer, SIYC, P.O. Box 206, Solomons, MD 20688.   

Upon receipt of the completed application, the Membership Chairperson (MC) will add the applicants’ name(s) to the Membership Application Wait List.

As vacancies occur in the Regular Membership (limited to 200), the applicant at the top of the Wait list will be contacted by the Membership Chairperson (MC).  The MC will contact the applicant and his/her sponsors to schedule a First Reading/Introduction at the next Board of Governors meeting.  The applicant will be advised of the balance of his/her initiation fee and prorated annual dues. After the First Reading/Introduction, the Board of Governors will vote on the new membership(s) the following month.  The applicant(s) will be contacted by the Membership Chairperson. 

Applicant Wait List:  It may take approximately four years to reach membership. While on the waiting list, the following opportunities are available:

1. Members/sponsors are encouraged to invite Wait List Applicants to Club events with the exception of the Annual Membership Meeting and the Board of Governors Meetings. Wait List Applicants are welcome to attend Club dinners and events if reservations are made for them by a host member.  Member invitations are to be for a specific occasion or day, and invitees must be accompanied by a host member while on the premises.
2. Wait List Applicants (other than the Top Ten) and guests are required to sign the Guest Register located in the Captains Lounge when visiting the Club, except when attending certain specified events (Club Policies #5).
3. Please read Membership Application Procedures. Privileges Afforded to Waiting List Applicants (a) – (g)

(c) Waiting List Applicants are traditionally invited to Opening Weekend events and the Commodores’ Ball. The Rear Commodore is authorized to hold Clubhouse events each month that are open to Wait List Applicants without requiring a “member host” and other such activities as the BOG may approve.
(f) - (g) Top 20 applicants may rent SIYC pier slips on a space available basis.
