Fleet Captain - Free Vessel Safety Checks (VSC)<br />Free Vessel Safety Checks (VSC) will be available on Saturday, August 27, during the Cruise to Solomons. <br />U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Auxiliary Officer Tommy Hardisty, who conducted these safety checks at the club last year, will be on site again this year to review member boats for adherence to federal and state safety requirements. This is a very useful safety measure and entitles boaters to a safety sticker that, when displayed on your boat, will signal to other USCG officers that there may be no need to board that boat. The information provided will cover current updates (e.g., fire extinguishers) and will be very helpful to boaters, especially in an emergency. If a boat at the moment does not meet all of the requirements, Tommy will advise you how to do so. The results of this VSC will not be reported to any other federal or state agency. Club members that are interested in taking advantage of this free service should let the Fleet Captain, Dennis Chandler, (chandlerdm@comcast.net) know in order to get on the list.
